Medallo, mor: Romantic Things to Do in Medellín
A couple of weeks ago two of my best friends went on a couple’s backpacking trip through Colombia. When they arrived, they kept saying that their favorite city was Medellin, they described its hidden places, the time they went to Museo del Castillo, the food, all the parties and the way they were treated. I didn’t want to believe them, but my boyfriend took the best decision, he did believe them and started to secretly plan a romantic trip for both of us.
It’s been two weeks since we got back, and I can’t believe everything we experienced, if you want to be as amazing as my boyfriend, I leave you a couple of great, romantic and touristic places you definitely have to visit. And don’t forget that if you want to do all this (and more) you can count on us to plan your whole trip to Medellin.

To be part of the parade of the Medellín Flower Fair
Being romantic, flowers are a must and Medellin is full of them during the month of August. This fair lasts about 10 days with activities that fill the streets with thousands of colors. Every day will be different for you and your partner. Since 1957 they have maintained this custom and it is part of the paisa genetics.
Within the programming of the fair is the Festival de la Trova, where poets and musicians make a myriad of rhymes to those present in the form of improvisation with poems and jokes. Obviously the most important day is the one that gives its name to the parade and one of the most beautiful to do as a couple: el Desfile de Silleros, where countless flowers are exposed on the shoulders and backs of the peasants who cultivated them throughout the year, they are able to form portraits and landscapes with flowers, a work of art.
The moment to go and dance in couple, even if you don’t know how to dance, is the Flower Fair Concert, this can be one of the most joyful moments to share and smile, it is very happy and loud music. If you do not go to the central concert, throughout Medellin there is the Tablado de la Feria de las Flores which are basically small concerts everywhere.
Schedule: from August 1st until approximately August 10th. From 8 am.
Discovering Calle Provenza by night
Nighttime plans are usually the preferred plans for romance. It is true that Provenza can be visited both day and night and you are going to find open places, but we are talking about romance and as soon as you see this street full of nightlights, you will notice it. Walking underneath them on both sides of the street you’ll find restaurants, bars, nightclubs, cafes and arts and crafts places.
The food options range from native Colombian restaurants, Mexican, Asian, fast food, Italian, and of course places to just go for drinks and snacks. The ambiance ranges from romantic to more of a party atmosphere.
Watching the sunset at the Museo el Castillo
Walking and watching the sunsets in this castle is one of the best options for lovers, they can sit and enjoy the architecture while watching the sunset over the lawns of the gardens. A castle full of art, nature, culture, water mirrors and fresh air. It is inspired by the castles of the Loire Valley in France, has passed through various Colombian personalities, until it came into the hands of Diego Echavarría Misas and his wife Benedikta Zur Nieden who opened it to the public after filling it with art and paintings for the culture of the country.
It is these pieces of art that make the Castle an incredible place for romance, picnics can be held and you can even choose to order a romantic decoration, full of flowers and in a unique space where you can watch the sunset over Medellin.
